Practice Summary
Ms. Knapton has appeared before Administrative Tribunals, Small Claims Court, and the Superior Court of Justice. She has also assisted senior lawyers on trials and applications at the Superior Court of Justice.
Ms. Knapton brings her diverse work and life experience to her civil litigation practice, with specific interests in privacy, equality and human rights law. She lived and worked overseas in Colombia and Pakistan before returning to Canada to undertake her legal studies at the University of Ottawa.
During her years at the University of Ottawa, Ms. Knapton was actively involved with Legal Education Action Fund and the Canadian Lawyers Association for International Human Rights, both of which she co-chaired. She was also on the Organizing Committee of a conference in February 2004 dealing with Women's E-Quality and the Law of Internet Communications. Ms. Knapton's legal training has been complemented by a term at the Centre for National Security Studies in Washington D.C., a term at a Legal Clinic, at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a clerkship at the Federal Court of Canada.
In addition to being a member of the County of Carleton Law Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Women's Law Association of Ontario and the Advocates’ Society, Ms. Knapton coaches the University of Ottawa Wilson Equality Moot Team and serves on the board of the Emily Murphy House in Ottawa.
